2014 American Music Awards Highlights!
I watched some of the performances from the 2014 American Music Awards last night and I was impressed mostly. I watched Nicki Minaj, Lil Wanye, Selena Gomez and Jennifer Lopez!
I was less than pleased with the struggle song/performance from Lil Wayne and Christina Milan. When I heard “Starts A Fire” all I wanted to do was extinguish them for making this trash.
It looked like Christina Milan took wardrobe from her old video “Dip it Low” for the performance. Did I mention that song was released in mid 2000’s? I am going to need her to let go of the whore geisha trend because it’s dead just like that song.
I was disappointed because I actually like Christina Milan and constantly root for her on the side line. She made it hard for me to defend her last night though. The performance lacked energy or creativity. It was just boring.
After their snooze fest Nicki Minaj performed with Skylar Grey a song called “Bed of Lies“. You all know I am not a “barb” but the song was actually decent. That was incredibly hard for me to write but I have to be honest. I thought it was truthful. It was so obvious she was talking about her longtime boyfriend better know as her employed hype man Safaree.
Allegedly the two had a falling out this year and he covered up two of his Nicki Minaj tattoo’s. Safaree and Nicki have supposedly been together for over ten years. He was a high school sweetheart who was with her through out her career. Although I don’t like Nicki’s music I am sure that it maybe hard dating a woman of her status when you have nothing going on yourself.
He probably would have been happier had he started his own business instead of following her around the world.
Another artist who was singing through their heartbreak was Selena Gomez. She sang a sad but honest record called “The Heart Wants What it Wants”. I usually don’t listen to her music but I was moved by this joint. It was so real and I think as women we have all been here before. Seeing a person’s potential but they don’t. We stay with them in hope that they can be the man we know they can be due to love.
I felt for her 22-year-old heartbreak. It was clear she is singing about Justin Bieber. They have been on and off for years. I’m sure this is rough on those young people. Heartbreak even though it feels bad teaches you all the best lessons. I hope she will realize sooner than later that people only change when they want to. Poor Selena.
However, the BEST performance of the night went to Jennifer Lopez. Iggy Azalea gets credit by default. Jennifer may not can sing but she puts on a hell of a show. I love to see her dance and perform. At the tender age of 46 Jenny from the block is making women half her age look terrible with her talent and looks.
She did an excellent job and I like the song “Booty”. She shut it down. I applaud her for a GREAT performance! She murder that. Go head Jenny!
