30 Day Water Challenge Complete! (PHOTOS)
On Dec 1st I announced on YouTube that I would take the 30 Day Water Challenge. I have posted dance updates on my instagram as each day passed on. I am so pleased that I took this journey and I would love to share my experience.
The 30 Day Water Challenge asks you to commit to drinking a gallon of water daily. I am already a person who loves water so I figured it would be a breeze. I also read an article about a woman who incorporated more water in her diet and she appeared to have physical changes after consuming the extra water.
This intrigued me even further to give it a shot. We live in the age of Photoshop so I wanted to see if this was bullshit. So I wanted to see if I would have any physical changes from accepting the challenge.
I took photos of myself from the beginning of the challenge to the end so I could track any progress. As time passed I was pleasantly surprised by the benefits I experienced over the thirty days.
Week 1
In week one I started drinking two glasses of water every two hours starting from 7am to 9pm. I figured I’d space out the drinking through the day so it could be more manageable to take down sixteen glasses. After the seven days I experienced a change in my hair and skin.
I noticed that my hair felt a lot softer and it stayed moisturized longer. This was a huge plus for me due to having natural hair and keeping it healthy in desert climates.
Living in Dubai can really take a toll on your natural hair. It was cool to see some of the changes happen so quickly. I didn’t see anything physical happen outside of the feel of my skin. It was softer to the touch.
Of course the peeing increased and I became annoyed due to the frequent visits to the bathroom. However, I just had to remember that drinking more water is good for me and it’s removing the toxins from my body. I thought drinking this much water would be easy but sometimes you are just not thirsty.
Week 2
In week two the peeing continued but the amount of water to take in became easier. During week two my menstrual period came and I wasn’t sure how it was going to be with the increase of the water.
Usually my periods are hell on wheels with a side of donkey kick cramps. Due to the water I discovered some changes. Typically the first day of my period is the hardest and I suffer from extreme fatigue with strong abdominal pain.
My cramps weren’t as bad and I didn’t feel as tired. My face is clear but I gained two small pimples but I will credit that to the hormonal changes of my monthly. My period wasn’t as bad but the water did nothing for my cravings. I still had plenty of snickers, kit kats, and chips.
At the end of the second week I found that my skin on my face had a glow and my tone was becoming more even. The bags underneath my eyes have shrunk significantly since Day 1. That’s amazing!
Week 3
At this point I am used to drinking a gallon of water. I even started to drink more water than required. I think my body became more thirsty due to the new intake. I must say I definitely see a major difference in my skin.
I also have become more consciences of the amount of water I was drinking before. I was drinking a lot but not nearly enough. I am no longer using my alarm to remind me I need to drink because I am doing it on my own. It has became habit for me to drink this amount of water now. I haven’t seen any other changes yet but the ones that have happened are cool.
Week 4
I DID IT! The 30 Day Gallon of Water Challenge is now over. I am so pleased that I stuck to it for the full 30 days. I experienced benefits in my hair, my vagina, my period and my skin. Despite all of the peeing my hair has become softer and somewhat stronger. Drinking all the water has made my vagina smell like water. It has no scent at all.
On my period although I still felt fatigued my cramps were much lighter and not as painful. I also noticed that the flow of my period wasn’t as heavy. My skin is the biggest difference of them all.
My skin appears to have a glow, even in tone, the bags under my eyes have gone down tremendously, and my small acne areas have subsided. I think the challenge was a success overall and I plan on continuing after today. I now see why drinking more water is beneficial to your life and how you look. So will you take the challenge?
I hope you try it!
xoxo
