Cissy Houston: Bobbi Kristina Has Irreversible Brain Damage
This story is sad but at least she is awake.
Bobby Brown’s lawyer released a new statement to Us Weekly about Bobbi Kristina Brown on Monday, April 20, after the R&B singer was asked to clarify shocking comments made during a Dallas concert this past weekend.
“Due to the numerous requests for an elaboration of the comments made by Bobby Brown on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at his concert in Texas, there is a need to clarify the reports on the condition of Bobbi Kristina,” his lawyer Christopher Brown of Brown & Rosen LLC told Us in the statement.
On Saturday, Brown told concertgoers that his daughter was improving dramatically. “I can say today, Bobbi is awake,” he said of his one and only daughter with the late Whitney Houston. “She’s watching me.”
His sister Tina Brown also confirmed his announcement via Facebook on Sunday, writing: “She woke up and is no longer on life support!!!!!:):)God is good!!thanks for your prayers,,still a process, but she is going to be ok:):):):).”
Bobby’s attorney explained that while Bobbi is awake, her long-term prognosis remains unknown. “Bobbi Kristina’s condition has changed since moving from Emory University Hospital and there has been improvement,” the lawyer told Us. “Doctors have indicated that she will have a long life. However, Bobbi Kristina is presently embarking on a rehabilitation process and the quality of her life will not be known for years to come.”
Brown himself thanked supporters for their continual prayers. “We thank everyone that supports Bobbi Kristina,” he said Monday. “And God is hearing our prayers.”
Bobbi Kristina Brown has “irreversible” brain damage and is unresponsive, her grandmother said in a statement late Monday.
The 22-year-old daughter of the late pop icon Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown was found face down and unresponsive in a bathtub in her Georgia home on Jan. 31. Last month, Bobbi Kristina Brown was moved to a rehabilitation facility in Atlanta, and only limited details about her condition have been released.
“While she is no longer in a medically induced coma she has a tracheotomy and according to the doctors she has global and irreversible brain damage and remains unresponsive,” Cissy Houston said in a statement. “Meeting with the doctors and understanding that she can live in this condition for a lifetime truly saddens me. We can only trust in God for a miracle at this time.”
