Dame Dash Told DJ Envy “You’re Not a Boss!”
Dame Dash gave one of the best interviews to Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club EVER!
Dame came to the station to promote his new movie Loisaidas and talk Hip Hop. He among other members of the rap community are starring in the film now available via his website for 10.00.
Outside of the movie the more interesting parts were his views on a boss vs an employee. People always say that Dame is crazy but I think he is borderline genius.
He talked about legacy and being able to leave something behind for the next generation. He also talked about how we invest time but become comfortable with the bare minimum.
DJ Envy and Dash got into a heated argument when he told him that he wasn’t a boss. Dash also told Envy he owns nothing. When Envy mentioned his ownership in shares of Power 105.1 Dash then asked specific questions in regards to his purchase.
He asked him with those shares can you get your son a job here? Does those shares give you any ownership in the company? In those seconds Envy realized that his shares gave him none of those things.
I agree with Dash. Why are we working so hard for someone else if none of it belongs to us in the end? We are giving days, hours, and moments in time that we can’t get back to people who we don’t share all the benefits with.
I listened to the jewels he gave and I could completely understand that mindset due to the way I’ve lived my own life.
The message that he is sending is one we should all savory. As he said he doesn’t work for his first name he works for his last name. That is one of the realest quotes I’ve ever heard.
As the interview went on he refused to speak of Jay Z. He said he has grown tired of those questions and is no longer interested in answering.
I don’t think Dame gets enough credit in what he has done and contributed to Hip Hop. Yes Jay Z is a great rapper turned business man but with Dame’s help.
People act as if Jay Z did it alone when that isn’t true. Dame maybe unconventional in the way he does business but that doesn’t make him any less important to our culture.
