Dove Helps Us Women See Our Real Beauty!
Dove Helps Us Women See Our Real Beauty
Women are the most critical of their own body image. Dove is promoting healthy perception of self among women. In their commercial they have an forensic artist draw each woman as they describe themselves and each other. Now the artist didn’t see any of the women, he just drew what was described by each one.
After he completed the drawing the women were very surprised at how critical they were on certain parts of their face. One woman said she described a sad woman after looking over the picture drawn of her.
Then when the women looked at how they were described by other people they appeared happier and prettier. When the women explained the features of others it became clear to those described that they were way to hard on themselves about their look.
It was funny how a complete stranger could embrace the beauty in them that they ignored. Which leads me to my point. Why as women are we so hard on ourselves? Why does it take someone else to see our beauty before we do to realize the truth?
I think it is easier for women to focus on the negative about ourselves because we are held to a different and sometimes impossible standard then men. We have to appear, speak, and be a certain way to be consider for male company.
We are constantly trying to please society and the bars they have set for us. It kills me that who we are isn’t enough. If I go to the gym it is for health not because I think this machine will help me attract more men or be better.
I put on make-up not to hide my insecurities it is simply to enhance my own beauty. It is not something I need. It is hard being a woman. As I continue to become older I understand this more and more. Anyway watch the Dove commercial. Start loving you the way you are and if must make a change it’s only to make you more perfect.
