Family

I have been thinking a lot about family these days and what it all really means. Besides blood line what makes your family a good family? How does it all develop?  Well I am the first to say my family is loud,somewhat bitter, they hold grudges, but when in crisis we ban together. I’ve always admired that about my family but is that enough? Should we only care for each other if something is wrong? I look at some of my friends families although not perfect but I crave that unity they have. It seems like it is so much easier in your family life when everyone gets along.

I find it that past wounds definitely dictate our future, As a child my grandparents were the generals of this family. If there was any discomfort it all had to cease when we were summons to a function. Meanwhile if you were in attendance and felt little salty my grandparents had a way to cut through it with good food and most importantly laughter. My family hasn’t been united in almost twelve years. We all tend to stay in our corners and come out for those we get along with. This behavior saddens my heart. As a young woman approaching my 30’s seeing this just teaches me that when I have my own family I want us to be united, It has also shaped me in my relationship. I don’t like to leave issues undone with my partner. I want him to fall asleep every night knowing he is loved unconditionally.

In this moment I feel more than ever that family and that love is so important to my life. I love my family to death but I hope the lord can put his arms around us so we can get along. *Prayer*

Father I ask you today for forgiveness and love in our hearts. I ask you for understanding and the ability to see others point of views. I want you to erase whose right or wrong but restore and renew faith in family as your children. In the name of our father I pray Amen
