Positivity: Are your lips TOO BIG!? Lipstick Tutorial

This is very positive imagery about a woman who had a discomfort with her large lips. Jalessa Jaikaran speaks openly about how she turned the lips she once hated into lips she now loves. In the beginning of the video she describes her negative feelings about her lips by revisiting the things she would say to herself.

She even talked about scenarios when people suggested color to her and she would reply “my lips to big for that” in her trini accent.  She hated them so much that she would only wear clear lip gloss.  She never wore colors because she didn’t want her lips to stand out. Somewhere along the line she realized that her lips are a part of her and should be celebrated. Jalessa then took on a new understanding for self love when it came to her lips. Towards the middle of her video she explains to her viewers that she now loves her lips and wears all colors.

She talks about the many shades of colors she wears and how she feels beautiful about something that once made her feel so ugly. The cool part of her video to me was her challenge to her viewers. She asked all her viewers to start embracing their imperfections because it was no mistake that you look the way you look. I found this to be a positive side of make-up and a true transformation for the young lady who hosted this video. I think more tutorials should show an inner change as well as an outer.
