Review: Beyonce Life is But A Dream

I watched the documentary and I have to say I learned a few things but not very much. Beyoncé was very clever in her explanation on child-birth, the release of her father’s management, and the love her husband. My expectations for the documentary was not if it was going to be a master piece but for it to be a reflection of who she is as a person.

In the beginning of the documentary it shows Beyoncé’ being reminiscent over her childhood home in Houston,TX.  She narrates over the emotionally charged music whimsical memories of running through the yard and precious time with her father. What I found interesting was while discussing her father she desperately needed his approval about her life and music career. It seemed like she was never  really secure in what her father thought of her.

Beyoncé’ released her father from management in 2011 after almost 20 years of service. She conveyed she wanted her dad back and it was hard when he was her manager. It overshadowed their family relationship. She confirmed to the reporter after firing her father that her relationship with him was lost. She said her heart was tarnished because she feels it didn’t restore the relationship completely.

I was hoping while watching the documentary I would take something from it I never knew. It was very refreshing to hear her use foul language and show a side of vulnerability. The foul language helped me chip away the perfect image she displays for cameras and interviews. I relate to her using a computer as a diary and watching herself to work through her issues.

It was also good to see her as a business woman and making the hard decisions in reference to her projects. I learned that Knowles is person who is inside her own head about everything. She is a very deep thinker in reference to her emotions and others around her.

Moving onto her love life a clip was shown of her giving a toast to her husband Jay Z for his birthday and she says “I’ve been with you since I was 20 you taught me how to be a woman” It is safe to say that she looks at him as a father figure from her statements and in some ways in fills the voids she missed from her dad. Looking at their private moments I can say they look like they worship each other. She says a million times in the movie how much she loves him and now even more since the birth of their daughter Blue Ivy.

Beyoncé briefly touched on the fake pregnancy rumors and her miscarriage. She should a silhouette of her naked pregnant body to reveal she was really pregnant. She also speaks shortly about her never being that vain to fake her own pregnancy due to not wanting to mess up her body. There was nothing new that you would find out in reference to her miscarriage despite hearing the song she recorded at the time of her loss.

She ended her documentary holding Blue looking like a doting mom and showering her baby with love surrounded by family. Beyonce explains her birthing experience the best of her life. All and all the movie was okay it wasn’t a horrible watch but it wasn’t epic. In case you missed the movie here is the:
