Rosenberg Takes A Bite Out of The Breakfast Club
I am just trying to figure out when Hip Hop became so sensitive? Why is it that in a genre that is based on being real you need to be fake for some artists. People who know me very well know I do not respect Nikki Minaj as an artist. I have no idea what kind of person she is but after Funkmaster Flex’s interview I honestly don’t care to know. For those of you who have been under a rock for the last couple of days here is the story in a nutshell. Rosenberg was on the festival stage at Hot 97’s Summer Jam hours before Minaj was expected to perform and said ” I know yall girls are here waiting for that Starships bullshit but I am talking about real hip hop.” The video below shows Rosenberg making the actual statement.
Since this statement has been made their rival station Power 105.1 has came to Minaj’s defense as the Wave Riders they are. Angela Yee of their morning show The Breakfast Club gave Hot 97 “The Donkey of the Day” due to Rosenberg’s comments about Minaj’s “Starships” at Summer Jam. The Breakfast Club also had Minaj on their show to talk about Summer Jam and how she felt about Rosenberg. She also commented on her claims that Rosenberg has a lack of respect for women in Hip Hop. All show members go on to agree and say he is always speaking negatively about Minaj. I have no idea how Charlamagne can agree when he is the show’s male chauvinist. I found his contribution to the conversation to be a joke. As the interview continued I kept wondering to myself how do they continue to talk when their heads are so far up Minaj’s ass? Rosenberg heard this comments and delivered a statement about the Breakfast Club.
This is my opinion about the whole ordeal. I honestly feel despite what Rosenberg said whether right or wrong Young Money artist should have performed. What Rosenberg had to say shouldn’t have effected her responsibility to her fans. She has promised that she will give a free concert for them but has not offered a date or additional information on the possible concert. If the choice they made was the best one they wouldn’t feel compelled to give fans a free show because their actions would be completely justified. If she does give a free concert she or YMCMB can not recreate the Summer Jam environment that the consumer paid for and it doesn’t put the money back into their pockets for what they spent.
After listening to her responses to Flex and The Breakfast Club it just confirms that she is full of herself. She talked about the show as if she was the reason everyone brought a ticket. She then confirmed her beliefs by saying her album sells out sold all other artists who performed at Summer Jam. Those statements were very arrogant and totally uncalled for. Nikki Minaj did not headline Summer Jam, Hot 97 did. They have been a household name before she even had barbs and kens or anyone cared for that matter.
These artist need to realize nothing last forever and there is always someone coming behind you to take your spot. Let’s be clear her fans became skeptical of her after her Grammy performance which was full of weirdness and Satanism prior to Rosenberg comments at Summer Jam. I am so glad Rosenberg didn’t apologize and that he stood for something unlike the Breakfast Club that will always fall for anything for ratings. As my boy can Rosenberg can say that’s “The Realness”
