I am going to be cooking through the Better Homes and Gardens book Tasty Chicken Dinners!
Every Friday I will be making a new dish from the book. The first dish from the book is Mandarin Apricot Chicken Wings!
Full Recipe Here:
30 minute Meal!
2 pounds of Chicken Wings
2/3 cup of Sweet and Sour Sauce
1/2 cup of dried Chopped Apricots
1/3 cup Hoison Sauce
1/4 cup Soy Sauce
2 tbsp of Honey
2 Cloves of Garlic Minced
1/4 teaspoon Ground Ginger
1/4 teaspoon of Five Spice Powder
1 tbsp of toasted Sesame Seeds
Scallions and Apricots to Garnish
Step 1
Preheat the Oven to 400 degrees. Arrange the chicken wings on a baking sheet or roasting pan lined with foil in an even layer. Bake the chicken for 20 minutes. ***Make sure not to touch anything in the kitchen before washing your hands after handling raw chicken. Avoid cross contamination by washing your hands and utensils used.****
Step 2
In a small saucepan stir together the sweet and sour sauce, snipped apricots, hoison sauce, soy sauce, honey, garlic, ginger, and five-spiced powder. Bring it to a boil then reduce heat to a simmer uncovered for 5 minutes. Then remove from heat.
Step 3
Brush about 1/4 cup of the sauce mixture over the chicken. Sprinkle with the sesame seeds. Bake for another 5 minutes or until chicken is at the internal temp of 165 degrees. Serve the remaining sauce with chicken. You can also garnish with scallions and apricot which is completely optional.
This is meal serves eight people.
