Trayvon Martin: Will Justice Be Served?

Trayvon Martin has been one of the most controversial cases of 2012 and now into 2013.

The Trayvon Martin case has revealed America’s thoughts on African Americans and that racism is still very real in the US. It baffles me how ignorant people can be over a life that was innocent. I have read so many Facebook and twitter comments in reference to this boy’s death. What makes him so special? This happens everyday? No one cares about other teenagers who’ve died? Why are they giving him so much attention?

Trayvon’s case received media attention because his family would not rest until it did. They marched, wrote letters, started petitions, and called whomever would listen. They wouldn’t stop until someone understood the seriousness of the case and would help them. Most other people who these things happen to don’t have the energy or feel defeated by the system in place. Most people don’t want to relive there child’s death on a national level the way his parents did. What they did for their slain son should be commended because it is hard to bury a child let alone talk about his death everyday.

Some even feel that George Zimmerman is innocent of the crime and we need to stop making Trayvon out to be this flawless teenager. What I find crazy in the matter is who cares what type of teenager he was? Why does that even matter? He was a young man walking home who was followed, confronted, and killed. Why because George Zimmerman said he looked “suspicious”? I don’t understand how people can say since when is being followed a crime? The ignorance in this country is unbelievable.

When crimes like these are committed it is easy to reveal the inner workings of the people around you by their responses. Racism is real in this country and there are still places that people feel African Americans don’t belong. I have no idea how black people got here to be deemed as criminals, killers, and savages.

African Americans have no written history of being a murderous race at all but there is documentation of continuos genocides caused by white people. This is just fact. The very reason we are here to breathe this American air is over the death of a Native American. They are the real Americans yet their people were murder, raped, and their land was stolen.

I guess the Europeans on the boat thought they were suspicious and felt they should be killed. By this way of thinking I guess they are responsible for their own deaths. That’s what people are saying about Trayvon Martin. The fuckery I can not believe!

Trayvon Martin’s death was senseless and wrong. Was Trayvon’s skittles and tea were weapons of mass destruction and George Zimmerman had no other choice but to shoot him. I can see how those very weapons have killed over time.

No one should be following you nor taking the law into their own hands. If that is the case then we need not to have police if we can just kill people due to us being neighborhood watch. Neighborhood Watch is the new police academy this is what I have learned from the Trayvon Martin case. I also learned that being 6ft, a black teenage boy, walking in a gated community makes me suspicious.

I pray for the Martin family and I hope they receive justice for their son. Although this will not bring him back they could rest knowing his killer is in jail hopefully. I black out my profile until a verdict is reached and I keep them in my prayers to heal pass this horrific incident. This is a sad day that these acts of violence still exist.
