Weight Loss A Heavy Subject
I have always had difficulty maintaining my weight. I am what some would call a yo-yo dieter. When I feel myself becoming to big I kick myself into full gear to lose the weight. I have lost weight a lot of times in my life when I become dedicated. When I looked at my eating habits I found that I love the crispy damn skin! I love fried chicken. I love when my mom or me makes it. That damn skin will have someone greasing the sides of your front door to roll your fat ass out of it. I also cut out my menstrual eating habits which consisted of brownies, pound cake, and a pint of cookies and cream. As much as I love fried chicken I don’t fry everyday or even every week so I was like why the hell am I fat? I will admit I don’t exercise as much and I don’t eat enough meals throughout the day. So once I took a hard look at my habits I woke up one morning just like that and changed them. Now I eat breakfast, take vitamins, and have cut out all the fried foods. I also implemented a workout plan which consists of walking around my complex, Wii weight loss games, and going to the gym. I have settled into my new eating and workout habits for about a month. My efforts have allowed me to lose 13 pounds.
Although a small victory I take them where I can. Now being on a diet and eating correctly was never a problem for me it was the part after. My goal is to get down to a certain size not weight for my nuptials and maintain my weight there after. This will be a challenge being that I have failed before. Now I was in a car accident in 2010 where I wasn’t able to workout. It made things very difficult for me to hit the gym the way I use to. Now that my back is feeling a little stronger I do what I can but most importantly I eat correctly.
Although making those changes once you go to the store and buy the fresh herbs, veggies, and other dietary products they are very pricey. When in the stores you see that most of the organic products or low in fat meats cost way more. I went to pick up lamb chops for myself and only two chops that were thinly sliced cost about nine dollars. You can buy six pork chops for the same amount. I also wanted to make a low-calorie meatloaf with ground chicken and veal and the cost for both products was in that nine dollar range. To eat healthy it will cost you at least ten dollars for your meat before you even went to shop for your veggies. The herbs are about three dollars to season your meats and I buy the ground garlic, cilantro, and basil those run about five dollars a piece. With this observation it seems like it is cheaper to be fat. This is why there is so much obesity in America because prices are so high. From what I described a family of four could go to McDonald’s and eat really well with change to spare. If that type of food is consumed daily that will lead to future health problems. It all just seems completely unfair that when you are in the grocery store you have to pick finances or a possible future with health issues. I hope they can start making healthier and more cost efficient options for people trying to watch their weight while on a budget.
Now that I am watching how I eat I find it that I buy less from the store but spend the same amount. Then when I look into my fridge it seems like I brought nothing at all. I have come to conclusion it is way cheaper to be fat. Due to my personal goal this isn’t an option so I cut corners anyway I can when I am shopping for my diet food. I am hoping to get down to a size I am comfortable with once again. I know it will only come with hard work and focus. I want this weight loss journey to end in me maintaining my desired size and being healthier. I want to live a long time and enjoy life to the fullest.
You know your awesome for reading

Thanks for reading and commenting. It is a struggle for us who deal with weight issues. People assume that you are fat because you are just eating non stop all day. People are big for different reasons. I am taking my life in my hands because I am getting older and I don’t want any health problems going into the next stage of my life.
Drae
I really enjoyed reading. I struggle with my weight. The Drae you remember never did and I was able to eat whatever I wanted and never gain a pound. But it wasn’t my metabolism like I thought it was my activity level. I learned this after I hurt my back on my last military deployment. So now I am also retraining myself to eat better and it is hard. But I know you are strong willed like me. We can do it. Good luck.

Yes you can we do have the discipline instilled in us to make it happen. Weight is no joke. It is not easy to maintain. The easy part for me is to lose. I just dont want to get comfortable once I lose and end up back here. So I am working on it being a lifestyle change.

I completley agree with you. It is sooooo expensive to buy healthy foods. I try to buy salads, fresh vegetables, and leaner meats but when compared to quick meals and other cheaper options it really makes no sense to me. America’s obesity issue is due to the imbalance of foods and their prices that are available to us. Like you said going to McDonald’s or any other fast food place you can spend a fraction of the money as compared to shopping for fresh ingredients and healthier options. I have been dealing with my weight as far back as I can remember and I have had my ups and downs like you have but right now I feel like I have no options, I am on a tight budget because I am trying to get a new place and pay for school so that leaves little money to eat healthy foods with the prices the way they are. I do not go for the most fattening foods, I do eat salads when I can, I drink mostly water all the time and I walk a lot but there seems to be no progress. I look back like 6 years ago (LIU days) and I was so much smaller but back then I felt like I was huge. It made me realize that my whole body image is distorted which has led me to not be happy with my weight whether it be 190 or 260. You are on the right track and I wish you all the best 🙂

It is hard boo to eat healthy on a budget. The way I cut corners is just bake everything and buy chicken. Remove the skin from the legs and thighs then you can eat as much as you want. I also buy iceberg lettuce one at a time chop it up and use vigarettes not the creamy stuff. I try to stay away from red meat although I had a steak tonight for dinner. I didn’t eat the whole steak just half along with asparagus. I eat a lot of veggies. I find though when you are short on cash you tend to just eat the same thing everyday because you are limited. The smartones go on sale almost every week. This way you can buy a few and have some variety. As for you body image we know inside were we are comfortable and when we gain it bothers you. I know it bothers me. I do affirmations in the mirror. I tell myself I am loved and beautiful at this moment. I say it three times looking straight at myself in the mirror. It helps me maybe it can help you. Thanks for the well wishes Tiff 🙂
